Here’s a fascinating piece of American religious pop history that doesn’t surface very often. Tim Sheppard’s “Inside My Room” represents the kind of earnest, deeply personal Christian music that emerged from the Jesus Movement of the mid-70s. Greentree Records was a small independent label based in Nashville that specialized in contemporary Christian artists who were bridging the gap between traditional gospel and the more introspective singer-songwriter movement of the era. Sheppard himself was part of that wave of young believers who grew up with rock and folk but wanted to channel their musical gifts toward spiritual expression.
