Here’s a proper UK first pressing of the Stones’ most underrated mid-70s effort, pressed on their own imprint during what many consider their creative peak. Black And Blue catches the band in fascinating transition – recorded between Mick Taylor’s departure and Ron Wood’s official joining, it showcases guest appearances from Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, and others auditioning for the guitarist slot. This makes for some of the band’s most adventurous playing, particularly on the Wayne Perkins-driven “Memory Motel” and the reggae-tinged “Cherry Oh Baby,” which predates their more famous Caribbean experiments.
